ATC Code: C07AB02

Betalok ZOK compositon

The active substance is metoprolol succinate. One tablet contains 23.75 mg and 95 mg of metoprolol succinate which corresponds to 25 mg, 100 mg of metoprolol tartrate, respectively. The other ingredients are: ethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silicon dioxide, sodium stearyl fumarate, hypromellose, paraffin, macrogol (6000), titanium dioxide.

Mechanism of action: a selective β1 receptor blocker medication. Pharmacological blocking of beta receptors prevents their stimulation, and thus limits the effects of adrenaline or noradrenaline on target tissues. The selectivity or metoprolol diminishes with the higher drug dose and is a drug form dependent. The beta blocker therapy gives a lower heart rate, cardiac output and blood pressure.
